With private operators getting ready to launch online sports betting and casino in Alberta, Caesars announced pre-registration is now open for all three of the company’s forays into the Great White North: Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, and Horseshoe Online Casino.
The Alberta market is set to open later this year. No formal date has been announced.
“Opening pre‑registration is an important first step that allows players to prepare for launch while we finalize our plans to bring our full trifecta of platforms online in Alberta,” Eric Hession, president of Caesars Digital, said in a press release. “We welcome the province’s continued progress toward a regulated online market and appreciate the Alberta iGaming Corporation’s work to support operators through this process.”
Bill 48
Last year, the Legislative Assembly of Alberta passed Bill 48, known as the iGaming Alberta Act.
The law puts Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis in charge of the regulation of the commercial gambling market. The government entity already operates online gambling platform Play Alberta. The act also created a new government agency, Alberta iGaming Corporation, that will oversee the new commercial market.
Additionally, the law created a system to self-exclude from all gambling offered in the province.
Hopefuls lining up
Caesars won’t be alone in the market, as 39 “expressions of interest” have been submitted by companies seeking to gain a license.
As for Caesars’ announcement, the company highlighted the differences in its three offerings, noting the Caesars Palace Online and Horseshoe Online casinos will offer slots, table, and live-dealer games, while Caesars Sportsbook & Casino will have all that as well as sports betting.
Those who are 21 and over and sign up for their accounts will be able to get notifications and information about availability of the apps.
