Those old enough to remember the origins of the Lollapalooza music festival may associate it with founder Perry Farrell and his band Jane’s Addiction.
Circa Resort & Casino CEO Derek Stevens has borrowed part of the name for his upcoming “Slotapalooza” event — though Stevens is smart enough not to throw the word “addiction” around anywhere in his related press announcements.
There will be gambling and there will also be alcohol, but Slotapalooza, scheduled for July 19, is a celebration of the entertainment and excitement provided by slot machines to those who indulge in them. Circa is billing this as “the world’s largest slot party.”
“Circa has become known for our larger-than-life amenities — like the world’s largest sportsbook and Nevada’s longest bar MEGA BAR — so we knew this slots weekend would be no exception,” Stevens said in a press release. “It’s going to be a party for the ages, celebrating the players who bring our casino floor to life every day with a day they’ll never forget.”
Slots and shots
The competitive centerpiece of the event is the “All Day Slot Tournament,” running on Level 2 of the two-story casino floor from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. No advance registration is required to take a shot at winning prizes with a two-minute slot session on the Cleopatra machines.
First prize is a Game King Poker machine to take home, and the rest of the top 50 scorers will capture a share of $15,000 in free play on slots at Circa.
There is also a “Hot Seats Free Play Giveaway” from 8-8:15 p.m., where 10 lucky players — one every 90 seconds — will be randomly selected to win a share of $5,000 in free slot play.
For some customers, the true highlight of the day will be the open bar — with select drinks on the menu free to all from 7-9 p.m.
Circa has 1,312 slot machines in total across its floor, and anticipates that all 1,312 will be in play at once at the peak of the Slotapalooza event.
Though slots will be the featured gaming vertical on July 19, Circa is probably best known for its three-story sportsbook — billed as the world’s largest — and its Stadium Swim venue, a pool and amphitheater with a massive screen on which to sweat your bets.
Located on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, Circa opened in October 2020, on the former site of the Las Vegas Club hotel-casino, Mermaids Casino, and the Glitter Gulch gentleman’s club.
