Rush Street Interactive announced Monday it has entered a partnership with BurraPay that gives the cryptocurrency payment solutions provider access to its BetRivers mobile sports betting and online casino platforms.

The partnership allows bettors with BetRivers to fund their accounts via cryptocurrency. Rush Street is the first U.S.-based customer for BurraPay, which is based in New Jersey. Rollout for the platform will be a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction process, subject to regulatory approvals in each market.

“We are excited to offer our BetRivers players the flexibility to fund their accounts with cryptocurrency — an option that will enhance the overall gaming experience and reinforces our commitment to putting our players first,” said Rush Street Interactive CEO Richard Schwartz in a joint statement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rush Street Interactive as our first U.S. customer,” said Luke Millanta, CTO and co-founder of BurraPay, in the statement. “This agreement is a milestone for both companies — and for the industry as a whole — as it proves that cryptocurrency payments can be delivered in a compliant, player-friendly, and scalable way. Rush Street Interactive has always been an innovator in online gaming, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner to showcase what BurraPay can do.”

      Where it could become available

BetRivers offers mobile sports betting in 15 states and online casino gaming in Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Delaware.

BurraPay secured two exclusive U.S. “Digital Currency in a Gaming System” patents in August, laying the groundwork for its partnership with Rush Street. It gives BurraPay exclusive rights over regulatory compliant use of operator-controlled digital currency wallets for casinos and sportsbooks, retail and mobile.

The patents allow BurraPay to offer a crypto payment solution to licensed gaming operators that meet AML (Anti-Money Laundering), KYC (Know Your Customer), KYT (Know Your Transaction), and CTF (Counter Terrorist Financing) requirements of financial and gaming regulators. It also provides a payment platform that can be used with any player cryptocurrency storage solution, wallet, or exchange.
