Michigan's Online Casinos Have Second-Best Month Ever
In September, the state's regulated iCasino operators took in $202.6 million, second only to March’s $215.1 million haul.
The Michigan online casino market came up all cherries again in September, as the state’s operators had their second-best revenue month since online gaming launched there in January 2021.
This comes on the heels of the state's third-best month ever in August.

The operators paid $38.1 million in state taxes, and another $9.3 million in taxes to the city of Detroit.
Boss MGM
BetMGM continued to set the pace in Michigan, taking in $53.4 million in revenue. FanDuel — which toppled BetMGM for the first time in that historic March month, and held on to the top spot in April before falling back to no. 2 — remained in second, with a $48.8 million month.
DraftKings remained in the bronze position, a strong third at $38.2 million.
Caesars and BetRivers flip-flopped for the fourth and fifth position, with Caesars overtaking fourth place from BetRivers. They reported nearly $13 million and $12.3 million, respectively.
Golden Nugget was next at $9.3 million, a nice bump from August’s $7.4 million. Fanatics also moved up the rankings, taking in $5.7 million, way up from August’s $3.7 million. ESPN Bet came in at $4.4 million, up a few bucks from August, but losing ground to Fanatics.
Four Winds was next at $4.1 million, Eagle saw $3.9 million, and PokerStars reported $2.5 million. Bringing up the rear were the now-defunct WynnBet brand (now Horseshoe) at $2.3 million, betPARX at $2.1 million, FireKeepers at $1.6 million, and SI at $941,463.
Year-to-date, the online casino operators have brought in over $1.75 billion in revenue with three months to go. Last year saw a total of $1.9 billion, so clearly Michigan’s online casinos are on their way to a record year.
The football effect
Meanwhile, on the sports betting front, the operators handled $501.8 million, up 79% from August’s $280 million in wagers. Obviously, the start of football season buoyed those numbers.
The reported handle in the state also marked a healthy increase from the $457.7 million from last September. In fact, last month’s take was the fifth-largest in Michigan online sports betting history.
FanDuel was the market leader, as usual, with a $180 million handle September. DraftKings was next, with a shade under $156 million. BetMGM was third, at $74.8 million in handle.
Handle for the year has totaled a little above $3.5 billion with three months to go.
