A Michigan gambler has more than 22 million reasons to be thankful this holiday weekend after claiming the largest online casino jackpot in U.S. history.

The player won a record payout Wednesday morning of $22,407,248.55 with a 20-cent play on the Huff N' Even More Puff progressive slot offered by DraftKings. It is more than double the previous record, established by DraftKings in February when a Michigan player won $9.28 million from a 20-cent play on the Irish Pot Luck progressive slot. The re-seed value for the jackpot was set at $5.7 million following that win.

“Setting another record for the largest U.S. online casino jackpot is a major moment — and it speaks to the incredible experiences we’re creating for our customers," Christian Bogstrand, DraftKings' executive vice president and general manager of iGaming, said in a statement. “Topping $22 million is a milestone we’re proud of, and it reinforces our commitment to delivering a best-in-class gaming experience. Congrats to the winner!”

Putting the payout in perspective

Michigan's booming online casino platforms are coming off a record revenue haul of $278.5 million in October. This payout is 8% of that total, likely dashing any hopes of another record-setting revenue total when November's figures are released.

In the case of DraftKings, the jackpot payout projects to slash its November gross revenue in the Wolverine State by approximately 50%. The digital titan also set a monthly record in October with $44.7 million in gross winnings.

February's jackpot wreaked havoc on DraftKings' year-over-year numbers for that month, spiraling 25.6% lower versus 2024. If the jackpot does wind up equaling 50% of DraftKings' revenue in November, the $22.4 million left over would represent a 46.1% drop in winnings.

It also puts DraftKings at risk of ceding the no. 3 spot for monthly revenue among Michigan's iGaming platforms. BetRivers would have the best chance to grab that podium spot, having recently crossed the $20 million threshold and having set revenue records each of the last six months.

The two enormous payouts will likely result in DraftKings having only marginal growth for full-year 2025 revenue numbers compared to the $454.7 million reported in 2024.
