Ontario Online Casino Revenue Sets Another Record In April
Solid online casino revenue growth continued in Ontario where operators claimed $242.8 million CAD ($176.3 million) in April

iGaming Ontario reported a record $242.8 million CAD ($176.3 million USD) in online casino operator revenue for April, the second consecutive month a record was achieved.
April's figure edged out the $241.3 million CAD ($174.2 million USD) reported for March and also represented a 35.4% increase from the $179.3 million CAD ($130.2 million USD) claimed by operators in April 2024. Online casino revenue has surpassed $200 million CAD for seven consecutive months, with the top three all-time totals reported in 2025.
The solid double-digit growth again showed Canada's largest province keeping pace or even exceeding large-market U.S. states when it comes to year-over-year percentage gains. Ontario's surge edged out Pennsylvania's growth of 34.8% from April 2024 as well as the 28.6% bounce in Michigan and 25.2% increase in New Jersey.
The record came despite a slight downturn in wagering at $6.58 billion CAD ($4.78 billion USD), down 1% from March's record of $6.62 billion. Online casino action was up 29.3% compared to 12 months prior, clearing $6 billion CAD for the seventh straight month.
Total revenue for April when combining online casino, mobile sports betting and online poker was $313.3 million CAD ($227.4 million USD), trailing only the $328.4 million won by operators in January. It was also a 25.3% year-over-year increase.
Larger pool of bettors, slightly more revenue per bettor
iGaming Ontario reported more than 1.09 million active player accounts in April, up 3% from March but still below the all-time high of nearly 1.13 million reported for February. It was also 20.3% higher than the 907,000 reported in April 2024.
The average revenue per active player account was $287 CAD ($208 USD) in April, up $8 from the previous month and $11 from April 2024. That is well off the rolling 12-month peak of $332 CAD ($241 USD) last August.
Ontario's mobile sportsbooks posted a slight decline in year-over-year revenue for April, finishing with a lower hold despite higher handle. The $64.5 million CAD ($46.8 million USD) in winnings was down 0.9% while the $1.07 billion CAD ($774.4 million USD) wagered was up 14.1%. The resulting hold was slightly above 6%, the third consecutive month it was below 7%.
Poker revenue inched higher to $5.9 million CAD ($4.3 million USD), a year-over-year increase of 3.5%. Rake totaled $144 million CAD ($104.5 million USD), up 1.4%.
