Pennsylvania iCasino Revenue Surges 11% Year-Over-Year In September, To $176.7M
Sports betting handle also climbs, while Valley Forge Casino takes a big leap and leads in total property revenue.
Online casino play in Pennsylvania had another banner month in September, with total iCasino revenue coming in at $176.7 million, up nearly 11% year-over-year.
Tax revenue generated from online casino play during September 2024 was a little over $78.4 million.
These figures are courtesy of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which released the numbers Thursday.
As is the norm, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course — which counts BetMGM Casino and DraftKings Casino as partners — paced the field with a $66.9 million dollar month in September. That was a 3.3% year-over-year increase.
But for the second month in a row, Valley Forge Casino Resort, partnered with FanDuel Casino, saw more massive growth. Its revenue came in at $47.1 million, a whopping 33% increase from last September.
Third place in the online casino wars belonged to Rivers Casino at $31.5 million, and everyone else came in under $8.8 million.
Live! Casino Philadelphia did see a 42.4% increase, from $2.8 million to $4 million, and Bally’s Pennsylvania shot up 87% on the revenue side, from $1.7 million to $3.2 million.
Online slots led the way with $132 million in revenue, followed by online table games at $42.4 million, and online poker brought up the rear at $2.2 million in revenue.
Sports betting and more
As might be expected, online sports betting revenue also came in higher year-over-year, with that total sitting at $811.2 million in handle in September, up from last September’s $726.3 million, an 11.7% increase.
Tax revenue on online sports betting was a shade under $19.3 million.
The rest of the non-brick-and-mortar casino gambling revenue in the Keystone State was as follows: In-person sports betting handle was $53.5 million (which, notably, was a 46% year-over-year increase), video game terminals (VGT) brought in $3.3 million in revenue, and fantasy contests were responsible for $1.86 million in revenue.
Meanwhile, with all sources of revenue combined, Valley Forge Casino Resort took the top spot with $85.6 million, a 29% year-over-year leap. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was next at $82.5 million. Parx Casino was third at $52.2 million.
On the sports betting side, Valley Forge, partnered with FanDuel, saw a total of $320.5 million in combined online and in-person handle. The revenue on that came to nearly $27.4 million, of which $26.6 million came via online.
All in, total revenue for all the state’s forms of gambling totaled $506 million, a year-over-year increase of nearly 6.2%.
