Slot Review: Christmas Full Of Wilds Is Full Of Fun

You have elves, Mrs. Claus, and Santa himself donning VR glasses, flying a drone, and more

Christmas. A time to celebrate, reflect, and … gamble.

There are tons of Christmas-themed slot titles out there, enough to turn three wise men into three “ah, heck with it, one more spin” men.

Of all the titles out there, a personal favorite is Greentube’s Christmas Full of Wilds.

This game has a little bit of everything for anyone who enjoys taking a spin, it features Santa Claus, and we’re mere days away from Christmas as I type, and so ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas, and good luck!

      The nitty gritty

OK, there’s a lot to get through.

Over at Caesars, where I played, spins start at 20 cents and go all the way up to $160.

One fun element right off the bat is wins can be had all over the place. Vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and basically every which way. Additionally, it’s not just left-to-right; you can also cash out right-to-left.

The basic gameplay is like any other 5×5 slot: match three or more symbols, win money. The best symbol is the “Christmas Full of Wilds” icon, followed by Santa, Mrs. Claus, an elf, bells, a party popper type thing, and then the very merry A, K, Q, and J.

And if you win, the winning symbols pop out of existence, with new symbols dropping down to replace them. Keep winning, keep getting new symbols.

Also, if you keep winning, you get closer to one of many different bonus rounds, as each new round presents the “Trail & Win” feature. Sometimes you need to get five straight wins to unlock a bonus; other times, a single victory will do. Each round will show a “toy” and how many arrows you need to get to the toy.

Each bonus round is pretty fun. I didn’t get to them all in this round, but I’ve gotten them previously. They are Lock N’ Spin, Wild Phone, Wild Drone, Wild Gun, and Wild Camera.

All the “wild” bonuses can repeat, with Santa using each toy to distribute the wilds.

The Lock N’ Spin feature is what it sounds like, with blue, green, and red baubles, each paying up to 9x — along with the coveted Golden Present — all up for grabs. The Golden Present will unlock one of the “Wild” bonus rounds. Fill up the entire board with baubles and presents, you get 1000x your bet.

The RTP is a decent enough 94.69%.

      Let’s spin

The music is Christmas. Hardly a great descriptor, but it’s definitely … Christmas.

As for the gameplay, it’s legitimately one of the most fun games to spin. Each time you play, you have a chance to get to a bonus, and the way to get that bonus changes. Maybe you need to get five victories in a row. Maybe four. Maybe three, two, or one. Frankly, I’m surprised I haven’t seen this type of game from other manufacturers.

Additionally, I love the right-to-left and left-to-right lines for winning. It more or less turns each spin into two spins. As you see those first two reels land and nothing matches, it doesn’t mean the turn is over. It just means you get to see what happens on the last three and then read the reels again.

The bonus rounds are legit fun. The cartoon Santa dons virtual reality glasses, flies a drone, shoots a toy gun, what have you. It’s just a fun game.

The graphics are also pretty fun, in an ’80s cartoon kind of way. I mean, I would’ve watched this show.

And it doesn’t hurt that I came out ahead, turning $20 into $27 and change by hitting the Lock N’ Spin bonus for a 46x return.

      The verdict

It’s Santa Claus. It’s reels that pay every which way. It’s attainable bonus games, and there’s five different ones to hit.

If you’re not having fun playing this slot, well, then you’re a mean one. You’re a bad banana with a greasy black peel. You’re a nasty wasty skunk. And so on and so forth.
