Consistency Is King With Online Casino Revenue In Michigan
Sports betting has ups and downs, but for iGaming, August marked fifth straight month between $301-$306 million in gross receipts
Steady Eddie, Even Steven — pick your favorite rhyming nickname, that’s iGaming revenue in the state of Michigan.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board reported August’s digital gambling numbers on Friday, and the gross receipts for all online casino operators added up to $303 million — marking six straight months over the $300 million benchmark and five straight months specifically landing between $301 million and $306 million. August’s total was up less than one-tenth of 1 percent from July’s $302.8 million, which followed $301.2 million in June, $305.8 million in May, and $303.4 million in April.
After factoring in promotions and bonuses, the operators reported collective adjusted gross receipts (AGR) of $290.8 million and paid $61.2 million to the state in taxes — also marking six consecutive months over $60 million.
While the iGaming numbers are proving exceptionally consistent month to month, they do show a marked increase year-over-year. August online casino AGR climbed 17.6% compared to August 2025, which helped offset the far less predictable online sports betting AGR, which declined 29.3% Y-o-Y. Online sports betting contributed a modest $1.6 million to the state in taxes — about 2.6% of the tax revenue iGaming produced.
Total August gross receipts from all regulated online gaming — casino and sports combined — dipped 2.5% from the previous month.
March 2026 still holds all the records for iGaming in the state, with $322.1 million in gross receipts, $309.1 million in AGR, and $64.1 million in state taxes.
Year-to-date, total gross receipts from iGaming stand at $2.41 billion, a healthy 21.1% increase over the $1.99 billion accumulated through August in 2025.
As usual, FanDuel out in front
The iCasino operator rankings in Michigan also remain consistent from month to month, and not a single site among the 15 in the state had a change in gross receipts from July to August of more than $2 million in either direction.
Looking at AGR, FanDuel Casino led the way with $69.8 million, followed by BetMGM with $61.6 million. Compared to July, BetMGM has to be happy with that margin, as the site tethered to MGM Grand Detroit tightened the gap from about $11 million one month to a little over $8 million the next.
As usual, DraftKings placed third, far behind FanDuel and BetMGM but comfortably ahead of everyone else. In August, DK Casino scored $42.5 million in AGR, its best figure since claiming $43.6 million in January.
BetRivers came in fourth with $21.6 million, then Hard Rock at $19.4 million, Fanatics Casino at $18.8 million, and Caesars at $16.6 million.
The remaining eight operators all came in under the $10 million mark. Notable among those was bet365, which placed eighth in the state in July in its fourth month since taking over PokerStars’ license but dipped to 10th place in August.
